Uganda is set to receive 2,000 Monkeypox vaccines
Uganda has reported a
total of 10 cases of Mpox (Monkeypox), with 4 individuals having
recovered and 6 others currently receiving treatment at the National Isolation
Facility in Entebbe. The Ministry of Health has assured the public that there
is no cause for alarm, emphasizing that they are fully managing the situation.
Health Minister Dr. Jane
Ruth Aceng provided a comprehensive update on the status
of Mpox in the country during a media briefing. She reassured
tourists, investors, and traders that Uganda remains safe for travel and trade.
Minister Aceng explained
that Mpox can be transmitted through human-to-human contact,
including direct physical contact, kissing, or sexual intercourse with an
infected person. Additionally, Uganda is set to receive
2,000 monkeypox vaccines from the Africa Centres for Disease Control
to aid in managing the outbreak.
