Shock has gripped residents of Ruharo Cell, Central Division, Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality, after the body of a local woman was discovered, reportedly murdered by unknown assailants.

The deceased, identified as Jenivah Kyomugisha, 52, was last seen the previous evening heading to Omuruhita Trading Center. Her body was found the following morning by residents, lying on the road in a pool of blood.

John Bosco Tigamugaya, the LC1 Chairman, noted that the deceased was known for her heavy drinking, which had made her abused sexually adding that some individuals had taken advantage of her intoxication to sexually assault her.

Steven Karuti, the Chairman of C111 Central Divisio expressed concerns that the deceased may have been raped and killed to eliminate any evidence.

He highlighted the need for increased police presence in the area, citing that one officer is insufficient for their community; he called for at least four officers to help maintain peace and order.

As of press time, police had not yet issued a statement regarding the incident.
