Police in Sheema District have arrested a 56-year-old woman in connection with the alleged killing of her 9-year-old grandson over the theft of Shs. 14,000.

The suspect, Kyomugisha Medrine is said to have killed Abaho Enrick on December 1, 2024, in Rwamurongora Cell, Kalera South Ward in Kashozi Division, Sheema Municipality.

According to Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Region police spokesperson, the matter was reported to authorities by Tibanyendera Yorokamu, the Chairperson of the LC1 in Rwamurongora Cell.

It is alleged that the victim, Abaho a Primary One pupil at Nyakashambya Primary School stole Shs.14,000 from his grandmother. When confronted about the theft, the boy denied taking the money and in response, the suspect allegedly enlisted the help of a neighbor, who is currently at large, and the two beat the victim with sticks, causing severe injuries.

Tragically, the boy’s condition deteriorated and he was taken to Kabwohe Health Center IV for medical attention where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The investigations are ongoing as authorities still search for the neighbour who is sais to have assisted the suspect in beating the deceased.
