Man Strangled to death in Mitooma
Mitooma District
police are investigating the suspected murder by strangulation of a 57-year-old
man, identified as Tugume David, a resident
of Kakimba Village, Kiyanga Parish, Kiyanga Subcounty.
Greater Bushenyi Region
Police Spokesperson, Martial Tumusiime, confirmed the incident that
occurred on February 16, 2025, in Kakimba Village.
According to the
deceased's wife, Lenonsia Kamayangi, Tugume told his family
he was going fishing in the national park with his friend a
one Kombozo. He (Tugume) packed supplies, including
a panga, maize flour, cassava flour, and a saucepan
and left on February 16, 2025, after supper. The deceased was
found dead approximately 300 meters from his home.
A team of detectives
from Mitooma District Police Headquarters visited the crime
scene, documented it and recorded witness statements.
Preliminary police
investigations indicate the body showed no obvious physical injuries. However,
there was evidence of a struggle at the scene and the deceased's neck
was found to be broken.
