Assailants rob 150m from businessman in Kyotera
Police in Kyotera district
are investigating a robbery in which armed assailants stole 150 million
shillings from Pulinali Semanda, a 53-year-old businessman and owner
of Zavuga Coffee Investments. The incident occurred on August 24 in
Kalisizo town, where Semanda was ambushed at his home shortly after
withdrawing the cash from Centenary Bank to pay his workers and coffee
suppliers.
Following an extensive
investigation, police apprehended a key suspect, Mwanje Gerald, also
known as Kigere Muzeyi on September 6, 2024 in
Kalisizo. Mwanje confessed to his involvement in robbery
and was identified on CCTV footage as the individual who took the bag
from Semanda’s car while his accomplice,
Joseph Kagimu alias Bruno, held the victim at gunpoint with an
AK-47 rifle.
Another suspect,
Alex Lule, also known as Dodo was responsible for transporting
them to and from the
scene and Alex Nabbimba identified as their witch
doctor, was responsible for surveillance to alert them of any police presence.
Rusoke Kituuma, Police Spokesperson stated that
authorities have also arrested Senteza Fred, a
25-year-old boda boda rider and brother of Mwanje. He was
sent by Bruno to retrieve a vehicle from a washing bay after sensing police
activity. Senteza is currently assisting investigators in locating
additional suspects who are still at large.
