Woman dies in Bushenyi Accident
Police in Bushenyi District are investigating a fatal accident that resulted in the death of a middle-aged woman. The incident occurred on April 6, 2025 at around 7:30 PM at Kanyamabona along Kitagata-Ishaka-Kagamba road.
The accident involved a Scania bus with registration number UAV 313F from a secondary school in Ibanda district and a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle registration number UFQ 254P.
Matial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, identified the deceased as Justine Nsimenta, a passenger on that motorcycle. The motorcycle's rider, Gerald Akandinda, 20, along with another victim identified as Constanti Ampeire, were injured. Both Akandinda and Ampeire are residents of Rwoburunga village in Mitooma District.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the bus driver, who was transporting students returning from a football match, was attempting to overtake the motorcycle when the bus's side mirror struck it.
The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, and the body of Justine Nsimenta was transported to Kampala International Teaching Hospital's mortuary for a postmortem examination. Tumusiime stated that the bus was allowed to proceed with the students under police escort, and arrangements are being made to bring it back.
