Speaker Among warns MPs against bringing ''nonsense'' in Gulu City Sittings
Parliament Speaker
Anita Among has refused to discuss a matter that was raised by Hon
Theodore Ssekikubo the Lwemiyaga County MP concerning
censure motion of the four Parliamentary Commissioners.
While appearing in Parliament
session today in Gulu City at Kaunda grounds,
Hon Ssekikubo told legislators that he was
in Gulu some some months ago seeking for signatures with
other MPs adding that he was glad to be in Gulu again since the signatures
were obtained in times of seeking them.
Hon Ssekikubo also
demanded to know why his motion seeking to censure the four Parliamentary
Commissioners over the Shs1.7Bn Service Award wasn’t on the order paper yet he
got the required signatures from 186 MPs.
In response, Speaker Among
warned MPs not to bring what their "nonsense" from
Kampala to the Northern Regional Sitting in Gulu City.
The four Parliamentary
Commissioners include former Leader of Opposition (LOP)
Mathias Mpuuga who was awarded shs 500 million and
shillings 400 million each to commissioners:
Solomon Silwany (Bukooli County Central
MP), Prossy Mbabazi (Rubanda District Woman MP) and
Esther Afoyochan (Zombo District Woman MP).
Civil Division of the High
Court ruled that the service award money was legal since it was approved by MPs
who budgeted it in the national budget.
