Hon. Bazil Bataringaya Rwankwene Announces Free Surgical Services in Ankole Sub-Region
The Chairperson of the Ankole
Parliamentary Group and Member of Parliament for Kashari North, Mbarara
District, Hon. Bataringaya Bazil Rwankwene, has announced the availability of
free surgical services aimed at saving lives in the Ankole sub-region.
Hon. Bataringaya clarified that
these free surgeries will be performed at twenty-five health facilities
equipped with operational theaters. Patients are encouraged to register with
their respective health center in-charges to participate in this initiative.
The free surgery services will be
facilitated through a corporate social responsibility program organized by the
Ankole Parliamentary Group in collaboration with the Association of Surgeons of
Uganda. The surgery camps will run simultaneously in twenty-five designated
health facilities from September 21 to September 27, 2024, with additional days
allocated for monitoring the patients' recovery processes.
Hon. Bataringaya urged
individuals suffering from conditions requiring surgery to register promptly
with their health center in-charges. This registration is essential for the
submission of a list of patients to the Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for
efficient planning.
He revealed that over five
hundred medical doctors will participate in the initiative, with each health
facility managed by forty doctors. He also advised pregnant women to utilize
existing health facilities, as the surgical camps will focus on conditions such
as cataracts and hernias, among others.
Additionally, the Woman Member of
Parliament for Mbarara City, Hon. Rita Atukwasa Bwahika, emphasized the
importance of taking advantage of these free surgical services. She encouraged
the public to register in a timely manner at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital
and Mbarara City Health Center IV to access these valuable health services.
