Muwenda Mutebi II has returned from Namibia where he has been receiving medical
attention from. In April 2024, Kabaka Mwenda travelled to Namibia to get enough
rest as he had been instructed by doctors in Germany where he was admitted to
get medical treatment.
Kabaka spent three months receiving medical attention and resting in Namibia and he returned on Monday (22nd, July) early morning, was welcomed by the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, Nabagereka Sylvia Nagginda, and Prince Crispin Jjunju among other Buganda kingdom officials.
According to sources
from Buganda Kingdom, although the Kabaka has returned to Uganda he will
continue his medical treatment in Uganda and asked people to respect his
privacy.
The return of
Kabaka follows reports that indicated that the government of Namibia refused to
renew the visiting visa of Kabaka following demonstrations around its embassies
abroad. Demonstrators accused the government of Namibia of working with that of
Uganda to allegedly exile the Kabaka.
While speaking to
media today in Mengo, Katikkiro Mayiga said that Buganda Kingdom is now facing
a group of people who who have got their self-interests but showing the
world that they care about the Kabaka. Mayiga said these people were even
visiting Namibia Embassy demanding to know how Kabaka is doing yet he said
their interests were selfish.
