Mbarara RCC cautions residents against politicizing government programs
Residents of Katete Ward in Mbarara City South Division have been urged to refrain from politicizing issues and instead focus on health and peace as the country approaches the 2025/2026 elections. This call was made by Catherine Kamwiine, the Mbarara Resident City Commissioner, during the partial reopening of the Katete Bridge to the public.
The bridge repair costing over 366 million shillings, was funded by the Ministry of Finance as part of a transitional development grant. The remaining funds will be allocated for the repair of Kanyeyite Bridge in Kakoba Division.
Kamwiine emphasized the importance of ensuring free and safe elections and urged residents to be responsible users of the bridge to guarantee its safety.
Assy Abireebe, the Mbarara City Town Clerk, announced that the bridge is designated for use by small and medium vehicles, advising heavy truck operators to utilize the alternative route through Nyamitanga.
