Police in Mitooma district have arrested a man suspected of killing his wife during a bar fight. The suspect Mwebesa Jackson,48, a resident of Kihungye village in Kiyanga Sub- County is alleged to have murdered his wife Kyarikunda Aidah, 45 on November 30, 2024 at around 8:30 PM in Burambika Trading Centre.

Martial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi Region Police, confirmed the incident noting that the deceased, Kyarikunda left home for prayers and later went to a bar in Burambika Trading Centre for drinks at around 10 PM.

The suspect, who was drinking at the same venue, allegedly confronted the deceased during an altercation, striking her in the face and kicking her. This violent encounter caused her to fall, hitting her head on a hard surface, rendering her motionless.

Witnesses attempted to mobilize transport to take Kyarikunda to a nearby health center, but she was pronounced dead before they could get her help.The body has been taken to Mitooma Health Center IV for a post-mortem examination.
