Police in Mbarara recover body of missing nurse
Police
in Mbarara District have recovered the body of Kyarisiima Judith, 50,
a nursing officer who had been serving at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital
who went missing from her marital home on September 2, 2024.
Her body was discovered in the Rwizi River and has
been transferred to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for
a postmortem examination. Judith was married
to Nkwasiibwe Justus, the head teacher at Bugashe 1 Primary
School in Nyakayojo, Mbarara City South Division.
Harrison Kagure, the Public Relations Officer at Mbarara
Regional Referral Hospital, stated that hospital staff had never registered any
complaints regarding gender-based violence from Judith's family.
Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson
Samson Kasasira confirmed the details of the case, stating that
Judith's body was found near Lugazi along the shores of
the Rwizi River.
He emphasized that police investigations are ongoing to
determine the cause of death, whether it was murder or suicide. Currently, four
individuals, including Judith's husband, are being investigated as key suspects
in her disappearance and potential murder.
