Political, religious, and school leaders in Kiruhura district are urging parents and guardians to take care of their children during the long holiday, ensuring they are protected from potential dangers.
Speaking at a Speech Day function at Rushere Model Primary School in Rushere Town Council yesterday, these leaders emphasized that while schools play their part, it is equally important for parents to fulfill their responsibilities to keep children safe.
Hon. Wilson Kajwengye, the MP for Nyabushozi County in Kiruhura and the guest of honor at the event, highlighted that children are well-disciplined at the primary level, thanks to the effective implementation of discipline by teachers. He stressed that it is the responsibility of parents and guardians to install discipline in children through cultural values and practices.
Hon. Kajwengye encouraged parents to educate their children in local schools within their vicinity for better accessibility and community involvement.
Bishop Rt. Rev. Alfred Muhoozi of the North Ankore Diocese urged school committees to listen attentively to parents’ concerns and ensure they are addressed genuinely.
Nuwamanya Ronald, the head teacher of Rushere Model Primary School emphasized that this is an opportunity for parents to teach their children domestic chores and life skills during the holiday period.
