Police in Mbarara district is investigating circumstances under which a police officer attached to Rubindi Police Station allegedly shot dead a 45 year old man. The deceased has been identified as Tibigarikwamu Gerald, who has been a resident of Akatooma cell in kagongi Sub county, Mbarara district.

It is alleged that police officers from Rubindi Police Station had went to arrest Tibigarikwamu on a case of attempting to kill a one Tumwine Godwin, Tibigarikwamu resisted being arrested, got a panga to kill police officers and in the process, they fired bullets on him where he died instantly.

Mbarara DPC Esther kayema has confirmed the incident saying investigations into the matter have commenced.
