Six people have been confirmed dead and 37 others injured in an accident that happened along Masaka –Mbarara highway in Lwengo District. The accident that happened today morning at around 4am involved a bus belonging to Gateway Bus Company registration number UBQ 621Z and another Fuso truck registration number UBM 673K.

The accident happened in Kirumba Village along Masaka –Mbarara highway, Lwengo District and according to eyewitnesses, it occurred when the driver of the bus tried to overtake other vehicles and ended up colliding with a Fuso truck.

While speaking to the media today at Police headquarters, Naguru Kampala, Traffic Police Spokesperson SP Micheal Kananura said the deceased who are yet to be identified include the driver of the bus and passengers who were travelling from Kabale to Kampala. He says, the injured were rushed to clinics in Kyazanga Town Council and Masaka Regional Referral Hospital medical treatment while the deceased bodies were conveyed to Kyazanga Hospital for post mortem.
