Speaker of Parliament, Rt.Hon.Anita Annet Among has donated Shs. 5million to the family of Glorious Betonde, a 40-year-old woman from Sheema Municipality who recently gave birth to sextuplets (five boys and one girl).
The babies were delivered prematurely via cesarean section at Neo Care Fertility Centre in Mbarara City and are now receiving specialized care at Holy Innocents Children's Hospital in Mbarara City.
The Speaker's contribution was delivered to the family by Sheema Municipality MP, Dicksons Kateshumbwa, at the hospital on Sunday, May 4, 2025. Hon. Kateshumbwa congratulated Glorious Betonde on her strength and the safe delivery.
However, the family, currently living in a single rented room in Mbarara, faces challenges in caring for the sextuplets. They are appealing for further support from well-wishers, particularly to help them build a larger home.
A nurse at Holy Innocents Children's Hospital, Orishaba Prisillar, highlighted the babies' need for specialized care and dedicated rooms for proper breathing support.
