Mob burns suspected thief in Sheema
Police in Sheema District are investigating circumstances surrounding
the killing of an unidentified man by a mob, who subsequently set his body
ablaze.
Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Region Police
Spokesperson confirmed that the incident that occurred
in Kibingo Cell, Kakunyu Kabwohe Division, Sheema Municipality.
According to Tumusiime, the incident was reported by Police Constable Kasimire Poritazio,
who is attached to the Central Police Station (CPS)
in Sheema District.
It is alleged that a group of boda boda riders from
Bushenyi area pursued a suspected motorcycle thief. They were joined by
fellow riders from Kabwohe and managed to apprehend the suspect. The
mob then took him to an area near the road in Kibingo and burned him
to death.
Tumusiime added that the body was burned beyond recognition, making
identification impossible. The individuals involved in the mob action fled the
scene immediately after the commission of the crime. The body has since been
retrieved and is being taken to Kabwohe Health Center IV
for a postmortem examination.
