Two arrested as theft of vehicle number plates increases
Police
in Rukungiri District have arrested two suspects in connection
to vehicle number plate thefts.
Security conducted an intelligence-led operation on July 25th in response to several
complaints from the public about an increase in vehicle number plate thefts.
The Operation led to the arrest of two suspects namely Mujuni Brian
and Arinaitwe Anthony.
According to Police
Spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke, the operation also led
to the recovery of the following stolen vehicle number plates;
UAS 842V, UBQ 0131T, UBA 458C, UBD 908K, UBB 279S, all were
stolen between June and July, 2024.
Kituuma says these number plates were recovered with
the help of the arrested suspects and noted that the operation
is ongoing to recover more vehicle number plates that were stolen as
well as arresting other suspects.
