Bushenyi Accident claims two people
Police in Bushenyi District
are investigating a tragic accident that claimed the lives of two individuals
on New Year's Day. The incident
occurred on Timbitwire-Kizinda-Kigoma stretch of Ishaka-Kasese road.
Matial Tumusiime,
the Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson reported that the
accident involved a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with the registration
number UFZ 398X and an unidentified motor vehicle.
The
deceased have been identified as Ronald Mwegyesa, 20,
a boda boda rider from Kyamuhunga village and Jumba Arituha,
23, a resident of Kibingo in Kyamuhunga sub-county.
Additionally, Blessing Nahwera,17
was also involved in the accident. She was a resident
of Omurubingo village, Nshumi Parish
in Bushenyi District.
According to authorities, the motorcycle was traveling from
the Kasese side when it collided head-on with another motorcycle that
was carrying Blessing, which was coming from Ishaka.
Tumusiime indicated
that the cause of the accident appeared to be reckless riding
and over-speeding. The bodies of the deceased and the
injured victim (Blessing) have been transported to Kampala
International Teaching Hospital for postmortem examinations.
