Uganda Police warns against march to Parliament
Uganda Police Force
has warned people against demonstrating as it is not legal. Unidentified
people via social media platforms have been mobilising and planning to march
to parliament on July 23, 2024 as a way of protesting
against corruption that has increased in Uganda.
Police Spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma while
speaking to media at Police headquarters in Naguru Kampala, he said
there have been reports of people organising to demonstrate on all
Kampala streets, marching to parliament.
Rusooke said
while it is a right for a person to demonstrate, it is important
to follow rules and regulations like informing the security
about the intentions of demonstrating, venue to demonstrate from and time.
He warned those planning to demonstrate and march to parliament not
to do so as it will be illegal hence they will be arrested.
