Ibanda Grade One magistrate’s court has sentenced Richard Nkamuhebwa, 20, to three months in prison for stealing his boss’ money.
Nkamuhebwa confessed to court that he transferred Shs.450,000 from Francis Nampa’s mobile telephone to a friend’s mobile wallet on January 15 while appearing before her worship Esther Murungi on February 20.
The magistrate sentenced Nkamuhebwa who will now serve a three-month prison term, less of the time spent on remand at Nyabuhikye Prison, after he pleaded guilty to the crime. He had spent 21 days on remand. The convict, who hails from Rwemikoma in Kazo District, was at that time of theft working at Jeeb’s Bakery along Kyereta Road in Ibanda town.
Prosecution led by Tian Emmanuel had prayed to court to order the convict to refund Shs. 410,000 to the complainant, saying only sh40,000 of the stolen cash was recovered from him. The magistrate said Nkamuhebwa seemed remorseful and had asked for forgiveness from the complainant noting that the three months jail sentence would enable him to fully reform.
