Ibanda Grade One magistrate Esther Murungi has jailed 30-year-old herdsman to 2 years-and-a-half at Nyabuhikye Prison for burglary and theft.

This was after Boaz Kaburemba, a resident of Karangra ward in Bisheshe Division, Ibanda Municipality pleaded guilty to two crimes.

According to prosecution, the convict together with two others still at large, broke into the house of Felix Ayebazibwe on December 30, 2023 and stole 3 bags of dry coffee, 70Kg of millet as well as 50 kg of dry beans, a handbag and clothes all worth shs.1.28m.

While handing down the jail terms of 15 months in prison on each count yesterday, her worship Murungi said the sentences will run one after the other. However the sentence will be less the time (one week and one day) that Kaburemba had spent on remand.

She advised the convict to appeal both sentences if he was not satisfied.
