Ibanda Grade One magistrate’s court has sentenced a father of 2 for stealing bananas from a school plantation. Thomson Karugaba wassentenced to 4 days of community service after he confessed to have stolen two bunches of bananas worth Shs. 30,000 from Nyakateete Primary School banana plantation on January 2.

The 31-year-old resident of Nyinebaare, Bugarama ward in Bisheshe Division, Ibanda Municipality will work at the court premises for 5 hours on each of the four days of the sentence.  

While sentencing Karugaba, justice Esther Murungi said the convict was remorseful, had not wasted court’s time and apologised publically to the complainant (the school head teacher) hence handing him to 4 days of community service at court premises.
