NUP resolves to nominate Hon Zaake
The National Unity Platform (NUP) Party has recalled the former leader of Opposition in Parliament Hon. Mathias Mpuuga from the Parliamentary Commission on account of Corruption, dishonesty and abuse of office.
The Party in a statement said that the National Executive Committee today sat to consider the response of Hon Mathias Mpuuga whom they accuse of engaging in acts of corruption and abuse of office where he together with NRM Parliamentary Commissioners allegedly alloacted themselves Shs. 1.7 Billion as service awards in a meeting that was chaired by speaker of parliament Anita Among. Hon Mpuuga had refuted these allegations saying he has not seen the money and confirmed that he will not resign from Parliamentary Commission office as how he was advised by his party (NUP) leaders.
In a statement released today by NUP, the party noted that the National Executive Committee that had a meeting today resolved to recall Hon Mpuuga from Parliamentary Commission on account of corruption, dishonesty and abuse of office and that party said it will notify parliament on this matter. The committee also resolved to nominate Hon. Zaake Francis Butebi who is the Mityana Municipality MP, as the Parliamentary Commissioner who the party says was illegally removed from that role in March 2022.
