Rev. Kahembera murdered in Kazo
In a heartbreaking incident in Meru Meru Village, Kataraza Parish in Nkungu Sub-County in Kazo district, Rev.Messach Kahembera, a 64-year-old Overseer of the United Pentecostal Church in Kazo district has been reportedly killed by his sons this morning.
According to Turyagyenda Boaz, the elder brother of the deceased who is also the councillor for Kataraza Parish, Rev. Kahembera had been struggling with domestic violence issues. Turyagyenda revealed that the family has a tragic history, including the recent death of Rev. Kahembera’s wife last year, with several individuals involved currently in prison.
Nabimanya Daphne, the daughter of Rev. Kahembera, shared her perspective on the family's ordeal, having lost her mother to the ongoing violence. She provided insight into how the family became aware of the tragic event and its underlying causes. She said that two sons of Kahembera attacked him in his house and cut him with a panga killing him instantly.
Seth Byaruhanga, a district councillor from Nkungu Sub County, expressed deep concern over the rise in such violent incidents and condemned the murder, emphasizing the need for urgent action to address domestic violence in the community.
This tragic incident highlights the alarming issue of domestic violence in the region and raises urgent questions about support systems in place for victims and families.
on June 16th, 2024, the
wife of Rev. Kahembera, Tushabe Rosset was also murdered while she was on the
way from her shop to home, at around 9:30pm.
Those who murdered him cut Tushabe's body parts like arms, waist, head and she breathed her last along the way as they were rushing her to Kagongo Hospital in Ibanda.
Rev. Kahembera then told reporters that some family members including his son and wife were arrested by Police at Kazo Central Police Station and some were later released on bail.
Kahembera’s
first wife Busingye Mary is still remanded at Rugongi Prison and his son Agaba Athur on allegations of murdering Tushabe.
