Student dies shortly after completing S.4 Exams
Police in Bushenyi District have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 22-year-old student, Daniel Muhingo, who passed away shortly after completing his Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) S.4 Exams.
The deceased has been identified as Daniel Muhingo, 22, a resident of Tandara village, Ibaare Sub-county in Bushenyi district. According to Bushenyi Region Police Spokesperson, Martial Tumusiime, Muhingo was staying with his 76-year-old grandmother, Kemigisha Angelina, at the time of his death.
According to Police investigations, the night of November 6, 2024 he(deceased) left his grandmother’s house to sleep in his room and the following day on November 7th, Kemigisha became concerned after failing to see him waking up.
Kemigisha notified other family members who came and discovered the door to Muhingo’s room was locked from the inside., they managed to force open the door and found Muhingo lying lifeless on his bed.
Tumusiime stated that the deceased's body was taken to Kitagata Hospital for a postmortem examination. At the time of discovery, Muhingo was found lying on his back, dressed in a white shirt and maroon trousers, and there were no visible external injuries on his body.
During a search of his room, several packets of Hedex and other pain-relief tablets were found, suggesting that the deceased may have been suffering from an illness and was on medication. The investigation is ongoing to establish the exact cause of death.
