Man arrested on allegations of murdering security guard
Police in Bushenyi have arrested a 28-year-old man on allegations of murdering a security guard in cold blood in Katungu Cell, Ishaka Division in Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality.
Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Brian Matsiiko, a 30-year-old security guard at Katungu Church of Uganda and a resident of Katungu Cell in Ishaka town, Bushenyi District.
The suspect has been identified as Evans Tumwiine alias Kadogo, a 28-year-old casual laborer living at the same address as the victim. According to reports, the incident occurred when Matsiiko while on duty at Katungu Church of Uganda, saw Tumwiine entering the premises and suspected him of being a thief.
When the deceased confronted the suspect and attempted to restrain him, Tumwiine resisted and a struggle ensued. During the altercation, the suspect reportedly pulled a sharp object and stabbed Matsiko in the chest. The victim was rushed to Doctor's Case Medical Center in Ishaka but succumbed to his injuries. Investigations are ongoing as police look into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
