Uganda Police to enhance security in sub counties
In a bid to
enhance national security, the Uganda Police Force is set to implement a new
sub-county policing model. This initiative was announced by SCP
Godfrey Musana, the Commandant Police Construction Unit while he was
commissioning the new central police station in Kabwohe Town
Council, Sheema Municipality in Sheema district yesterday.
He said the move will involve closing
police stations in the sub counties and consolidating them into one
well-equipped sub county police station. He acknowledged the shortage of
officers but said they are recruiting more personnel to address the concerns of
inadequate staffing of police officers.
Sam Orikunda, the Sheema Deputy
Resident Commissioner informed the senior commissioner that the biggest change
in the district is domestic violence which escalates and brings land issues
which cause murders. He urges religious leaders to do counselling in family
institutions to stop the habit.
Dickson Kateshumbwa, the Sheema municipality
Member of Parliament cautioned police officers against mismanaging case files
and asked them to manage crime.
