Mitooma witch doctors remanded over human trafficking
Mitooma District Chief
Magistrate's court has remanded three witch doctors accused
of human trafficking and receiving money by false pretence.
Court that was presided
over by Chief Magistrate His Worship Toroko Simon heard that
on June 23rd, 2024,
these witch doctors Musimenta Kamadi, Moses Tumusiime and
Nadia Katushabe, all residents of Mushunga Parish in
Mitooma Sub County while at Kibingo cell, received
5.2millions from Eserida Twikirize of Mbarara and locked her in
a house for three days.
These suspects
started demanding more Shs. 14 million from the relatives
of Twikirize but later released her after the
failure of family members to raise the requested amount.
This forced the relatives to report to police and searching of suspects
commenced until they were arrested from Mbarara where they were hiding.
The accused pleaded not guilty and the state
attorney Keshubi Caroline informed court that investigations are
still incomplete and requested for adjournment of the case.
His Worship Toroko remanded the three to
Mitooma prison until August, 29,2024 when the suspects will return to
court for case hearing.
