Women urged to start up businesses
Women Entrepreneurs have been called up to always carry out networking if they are to gain in the business they are doing.
The call was made by Prof Moses Muhwezi, the Principal Makerere University Business School (MUBS) during the stakeholder’s consultative workshop organised by MUBS in partnership with the Ministry of Gender aiming at developing a training curriculum targeting women entrepreneurs from western districts at hotel triangle in Mbarara city.
Prof Moses Muhwezi said that empowering women in businesses means empowering development in a family. According to his Research, 38 percent of businesses are owned by women in Uganda.
Dr Dianah Nandagire Tamu Director MUBS Entrepreneurship Innovation and Incubation Center noted that MUBS has partnered with ministry of Gender to support the growth Opportunities and productivity for women enterprises (GROW project) to support women entrepreneurs in this country. She noted that their intention is to identify the challenges faced by small women business entrepreneurs are facing. This project is funded by the World Bank worth $217m together with Private sector Uganda, and the Ministry of Gender.
