MPs collecting signatures for censure motion unhappy
Lwemiyaga County Legislator, Theodore Ssekikubo is wondering why the speaker Anita Among has taken 9 days without responding to the letter requesting for transportation to collect signatures. Ssekikubo and his team are championing the censure of four Parliamentary Commissioners accused of sharing themselves money (Shs1.7Bn) as Service Award.
The Commissioners accused include former leader of opposition, Mathias Mpuuga who is said to have got Shs. 500M, Solomon Silwany, the Bukhooli Central MP, Zombo District Woman MP Esther Afoyochan and Rubanda District Woman MP Prossy Mbabazi. Over 167 signatures from MPs have been collected and signatures needed are 177.
Ssekikubo and his team wrote a letter to the Clerk to Parliament requesting for the vehicle to use in their journeys of looking for MPs in their constituencies since they are in recess however, the clerk told them that it is the Speaker to determine whether to avail them with means of transport.
While speaking to emdia today at Parliament, Ssekikubo said they had to wrote to Speaker Anita Among but to their surprise, they say they do not know why the speaker is not responding after 9 days. Ssekiikubo wondered why MPs that have been approached to sign were running away giving an example in Hoima where he said MPs were quick to run away from signing, proceeding to Busoga where MPs too ran away.
