Vanilla farmers in Ribirizi want government to intervene the prices
Vanilla farmers in Rubirizi District have demonstrated over continued decline in vanilla prices in the district.
Farmers led by their chairperson, Ssebugwawo Fabian say that a Kilogram which used to be sold at Shs. 30,000 is now sold at Shs. 5000 and Shs.2000 respectively. The farmers now want the Ministry of Agriculture Animal Husbandry and Fisheries to intervene and provide markets for their crops as this is their source of income.
Meanwhile, Katushabe Sylvia, the Katanda sub-county senior Agriculture Officer, accused some of the district officials of introducing monopoly market which has affected vanilla prices in the district.
