Three people have been struck by lightning, leaving one dead in Kiruhura District. The incident happened yesterday July 12th, in Kashongi Trading Centre, Kashongi County in Kiruhura District.

The victims whose identities are yet to be identified where on a motorcycle when they were struck by lightning, leaving one dead and other two are still hospitalised. According to OC Kashongi Police Station Boniface Nuwamanya, the victims were from Kanungu district and had come for burial of their relative in Kazo District who hanged himself.

OC Nuwamanya says the victims were going to visit their relative in Rwejubu in Kashongi and were struck by lightning when they reached Kashongi Trading Centre.

OC Kiruhura District ASP Amanya Nicholas has confirmed this incident, revealing that oe of the victims was talking on the phone when lightning struck them. ASP Amanya has urged people to always switch off their phones, Televisions, radios when it’s raining or when there are lightening. Bodies were handed over to their relatives for burial arrangements after carrying out post-mortem.
