Police in Katwe -Kampala are investigating circumstances under which a UPDF Officer killed his wife and later turned the gun on himself in Makindye Division. This incident happened today February 20th, 2024, and the UPDF Officer Corporal Andebo Collins, a military police officer attached to Makindye Military Police shot and killed Atulinda Peroni, a civilian support staff also with the military police.

According to Deputy Police Spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan Area Luke Owoyesigyire, the two individuals were previously in a relationship and had been residing together in Lusaka Zone, Makindye 1, Makindye Division, before experiencing a separation due to misunderstandings. Owoyesigyire says Corporal Andebo who was armed with an AK-47 rifle confronted Atulinda Peroni as she was boarding a motorcycle, he opened fire on her, resulting in her sustaining a shattered arm. The suspect Corporal Andebo immediately shot himself and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Mulago Hospital.

Police Officers at Katwe Police Station and the Military Police responded to the scene rushed Atulinda to Nsambya Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a few minutes ago and her body has been conveyed to City Mortuary Mulago for postmortem examination. Police and Military Police have commenced investigations.
