Security forces in Karamoja are investigating an incident where UPDF soldier shot dead 18 cows, injured 25 others in Nakapiripirit district.

The incident took place yesterday when Private Yosefi Baguma, a security team assigned to graze the impounded cows, went on shooting them at Moruita-protected kraal.

According to the acting UPDF 3rd division spokesperson, Maj. Moses Amuya, security forces arrested the suspect who is currently being detained at the 407 Brigade headquarters. The cows were part of 291 livestock impounded on September 9th from Naborokocha and Pian Upe Game Reserve.

Some reports indicate that Private Baguma might be suffering from severe mental illness and with this, security forces will have to take him to undergo medical examination.
