URA Officials responds to Auditor General report
The Commissioner General for Uganda Revenue Authority John Musinguzi has confirmed that Uganda has been losing much money in uncollected Tax which he says has interrupted the activities of this authority to collect taxes from tax payers.
Musinguzi made the remarks while appearing before the Committee of Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE), where URA Officials had been summoned to respond to queries raised in the December 2023 Auditor General’s report.
He said the country has been losing money over Shs. 4 trillions annually in uncollected Value Added Tax noting that the enforcement of Electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing System (EFRIS) will ensure that all VAT taxpayers pay their fair share of tax.
