Police in Rubirizi District have arrested a 29-year-old woman on allegations of murdering her 30-year-old husband. The incident occurred on November 20, 2024 at around 11:30 PM in Katara 1 village, Kichwamba Sub-county in Rubirizi District.
Matial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson confirmed the incident and identified the suspect as Agnes Tusingwire, a resident of Nyakagyezi village in Katanda Sub-county, Rubirizi District and the deceased as Brian Twimukye, a businessman from Ndaragi village in Kakanju Sub-County, Bushenyi District.
The couple met two years ago and lived together as husband and wife in Bushenyi District, where they had a baby girl. They later relocated to Rubirizi District in August 2024 opened a small business to support themselves.
According to reports, the deceased frequently accused his wife of having other love relationships with other men, which led to instances of domestic violences.
Pasko Mwesigye, a 50-year-old businessman and a resident of Kyanyonza village, Katara Parish, Kichwamba Sub-county, indicated that the couple had a quarrel over a 50,000 shilling note, the source of which Tusingwire refused to disclose.
During the altercation, fearing for her safety, she allegedly grabbed a panga that was nearby, and in the struggle that ensued, she inadvertently cut her husband’s neck, arms, and left leg.
The deceased was rushed to Rugazi Health Center IV for treatment where he passed away an hour later.
