Kyenjojo accident claims 10 lives
Ten people have
been confirmed dead following an accident that happened in Kyenjojo
District. The accident happened today morning
at Kaihura Trading Center along Fort Portal-Kampala
road.
According
to Rwenzori West Police Spokesperson Vincent Twesige,
the accident involved a
bus belonging to Poko Poko Bus Company registration
number UBE 807T and a Toyota Hiace taxi registration
number UBR 812G.
The bus was from
Kampala heading to Kasese and the taxi was from Fort Portal heading
to Kampala and preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of the taxi
lost control of the vehicle and ended up having a head on Collison with the
bus.
Twesige confirms that the
10 people who died include the driver of the taxi and the passengers. Kyenjojo District
Traffic Officers visited the scene, took the deceased bodies were conveyed
to Kyenjojo Hospital for post-mortem, the ijured people
whose number hasn’t been identified yet, are also receiving treatment at the
same facility.
The wreckage of both vehicles have been towed
to Kyenjojo Central Police Station, bus driver fled to unknown
location after the accident and police investigations have commenced.
