10 people lost their lives, 25 others were injured in an accident that happened in Rakai district.

The fatal accident that happened yesterday, March 26th, along Kyalulangira-Isingiro Road involved a motor vehicle UAP 559X Canter Lorry and police investigations indicate that the driver of this motor vehicle was carrying 35 people who were heading to Isingiro at a burial ceremony, he lost control of the vehicle and overturned killing 10 people on spot and injuring 25 others.

Traffic Police Spokesperson, Micheal Kananura has confirmed this incident saying that traffic police responded to the scene immediately, and the bodies of the deceased were transported to Kyalulangira H/C III for post-mortem examination and the injured people were taken to Rakai Hospital for treatment. Kananura says the driver ran away from the scene and they are now hunting for him as investigations into the cause of this crash continue.
