Police in Rubirizi District are searching for a man who allegedly stabbed 22-year-old man to death over a disagreement related to a girl. The incident occurred on October 22, 2024, at Kyansama A village in Kichwamba Sub County in Rubirizi District.

The suspect has been identified only as Monday, a resident of the same village and he is reported to have murdered John Bosco Mulumbi over matters of a girl.

According to Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Region Police Spokesperson, on October 22, Mulumbi was at a one Kamayira's Bar with his girlfriend only identified as Atiye and Monday came to the same bar, joined the girl who was dancing.

Monday dancing with Atiye provoked Mulumbi who pushed the suspect away from Atiye. The suspect picked up an empty beer bottle and struck Mulumbi on the head, he went to his nearby residence, retrieved a knife, and stabbed Mulumbi in the chest and stomach before fleeing the scene. 

Mulumbi’s brother, Kiiza Timothy who was also at the bar, rushed him to KIU Teaching Hospital in Ishaka, where he succumbed to his injuries. Tumusiime confirmed that the deceased's body is at KIU Teaching Hospital pending a post-mortem examination. Security personnel are now searching for Monday, Atiye and the owner of the bar who escaped after this incident, to help Police with investigations.
