Police in Bushenyi District have arrested a 27 year old man on allegations of defiling a 7-year-old girl. The suspect, Alex Byaruhanga is said to have committed the crime on December 7, 2024 in Ishaka town, Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality.

According to Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson, Matial Tumusiime, the suspect, a casual laborer and resident of Ishaka town, was found with the victim in her kitchen by the victim's grandmother.

When questioned by the grandmother what he was doing with the child in kitchen, the suspect denied any wrongdoing. However, three days later, the grandmother noticed a change in the victim's behavior and discovered pus coming from her vagina upon physical examination.

The case was reported to police by John Bosco Tumusiime, a 39-year-old casual laborer and resident of Kizinda town council in Bushenyi District. During an inquiry with the victim, she revealed that she had been defiled by Byaruhanga after he promised to give her grasshoppers.
