Police in the Rwizi region have apprehended 290 individuals during the festive season, according to SP Samson Kasasira, the regional police spokesperson.

Among those detained are 266 men, 17 women and seven male juveniles.

Kasasira reported that the region has also recorded four murder cases, one case of aggravated defilement and one kidnapping incident all of which are currently under investigation.

He noted that many of the suspects were taken into custody prior to December 31 and case files for these individuals will be submitted to the state attorney for review and appropriate action.

Additionally, Kasasira emphasized the police's commitment to enhancing community policing in the New Year aiming to strengthen security and foster cooperation with local residents.
