4 suspects accused of robbery, murder of Kiruhura man
High Court in Mbarara has remanded 4 suspects to Mbarara Main Prison over robbery and murder of a man who was from Bank in Kiruhura.
Gumisiriza Sam who was a resident of Nama Village in Kinoni Sub County, Kiruhura District was trailed by assailants on the 02/09/2023 from DFCU Bank Rushere branch in Rushere Town Council where he withdrew money amounting to Shs. 29,260,000.
The assailants trailed the deceased and on his way back to Nama village they caught him in Byazo along Nama Road, where they pepper sprayed him forcing him to stop. The assailants grabbed him and strangled him to death with a rope, leaving his lifeless body and his motorcycle UEM 055S bajaj boxer in the bushes off the road.
Gumisiriza's body was later discovered on September 3rd, 2023 and Kiruhura police were informed, commencing with investigations. On 04/09/2023 4 suspects were apprehended including Byamugisha Justus, Muwoge Matia, Nabi Isiah, Kabagambe Hannington and Mutambi Owamukama, the bank manager with DFCU Bank.
In a statement released today, Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson Samson Kasasira says the four suspects including Byamugisha Justus,26, Muwoge Matia,36, Nabi Isiah,26, Kabagambe Hannington, 36 on March 3rd, 2024, appeared before Mbarara High Court where they were charged with murder and aggravated robbery and remanded to Mbarara Main Prison. Kasasira said that the prosecution of the bank manager Mutambi Owamukama is still ongoing in the High Court of Mbarara.
