Two die of Anthrax disease in Kazo
In Kazo district, two people have lost their lives to Anthrax disease.
The deceased, 25-year-old Ariho Jonan and Tibihikire Innocent Ssalongo, were all residents of Keicumu Parish, Engari Sub-County in Kazo district and they reportedly consumed meat from an animal infected with Anthrax.
According to relatives, the two butchers spent five days consuming the meat before showing symptoms of Anthrax disease, including developing blisters on their bodies.
Hon. Dan Tumwine, the District Councilor of Engari Sub-County has called upon the government to take action against the disease and urged residents to report immediately if they notice any signs.
Nabimanya Alfred, District Veterinary Officer of Kazo district, has advised people against consuming meat from dead animals and farmers to stop selling dead animals until they have been tested.
