Police in Bushenyi District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 54-year-old businessman, Isaac Ruhigwa Atwine who died in a hotel room. The deceased, yesterday October 9, 2024 came to Deluxe Hotel in Kizinda -Kigoma Town Council with an unidentified woman seeking accommodation.

Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Region Police Spokesperson notes that Atwine, a resident of Bwengiragye in Bushenyi- Ishaka Municipality at the time of check-in, the deceased was reportedly holding a half glass of beer, which he had brought in from outside. While Atwine's name and address were recorded in the hotel register, he requested that the woman's information not be documented.

The couple was given a room and after some hours, the woman was seen leaving the room alone. Shortly after her departure, she called the hotel owner to inform him that Atwine was in poor health. The hotel owner who was not present at the hotel at the time, instructed receptionist Kihembo Vian to check on the guest and upon checking, Kihembo discovered that Atwine was already dead. She immediately alerted the hotel owner who in turn notified the police.

Tumusiime says Atwine was lying on the bed, fully covered with a bed cover and upon removing the cover, it was noted that his body was completely naked. His body was transported to KIU Teaching Hospital for examination as investigations continue.
