Police in Bushenyi District are investigating circumstances under which a one year student at Kampala International University (KIU)- Ishaka committed suicide by hanging. The deceased has been identified as Opirin Bonifance who has been in his first semester as an Engineering student is said to have committed suicide with a rope yesterday, February, 25, 2024. 

Opirin's body was found hanging in a house he has been renting at Kamukama Estate Hostels in cell D, Ishaka division in Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality. The Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson SSP Martial Tumusiime confirmed this incident saying that a fellow student who is renting in the same Estates saw the body of Opirin hanging, he informed neighbours who also reached out to police. 

Tumusiime says Police immediately swung into action, visited the scene and retrieved the body to KIU Teaching Hospital Mortuary Ishaka for postmortem as investigations continue.
