In Bushenyi district,
police are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a
40-year-old woman whose body was found lifeless in a forest.
On February
17, 2025, Martial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Region
Police Spokesperson, confirmed that the incident occurred
in Ekikorijo village, Nyeibingo parish, Ruhumuro sub-county.
The deceased has been identified as Kembabazi Jenifer, 40, a resident
of Nyakatete village in the same sub-county.
According to police investigations, four
children had gone to collect firewood in Bakyindaho Solomon's
eucalyptus forest when they stumbled upon a dead body of an unidentified
female adult. The children immediately informed their mother, who in
turn notified the LC1 chairperson, who subsequently reported the matter to the
police.
Kasasira Yonoka,
the husband of the deceased told police that his wife left home on
February 16 to visit her parents in Kayanga to check on her food
crops. However, he was later informed that her lifeless body had been
discovered in the eucalyptus forest, found to be partially dressed.
Preliminary
police investigations reveal that the deceased had a weaving needle in her
possession and a knife was found near her body, potentially used by the assailants.
Police further reported that a scene of crimes officer examined the
deceased's body and found evidence of suspects' semen droplets on her thighs,
indicating a potential rape.
Additionally, a sniffer dog was introduced to the scene to track
potential tracks, but it lost the trail after one kilometer. The deceased's
body has been taken to Kyabugimbi Health Centre IV for a
post-mortem examination as investigations continue.
