Suspected Mpox cases recorded in Kamwenge

District Health Officer, Dr. William Mucunguzi has reported that the
district's health department has documented seven alerts for MPOX cases, with
three identified in Bwizi Sub-County and four others in Kabambiro Sub-County.
In an interview with our reporter, Dr.Mucunguzi stated that surveillance teams are actively following up on each alert, collecting samples to send to the Uganda Virus Research Institute in Entebbe for testing.
He emphasized that, to date, no
cases have been confirmed, as the symptoms resemble typical rashes.
Mucunguzi mentioned that the seven individuals are being
monitored at home while awaiting results. He urged residents of Kamwenge to
report any symptoms of Mpox and to remain vigilant.
