Residents of Kanyara-Nyaruhanda Cell in Kikondo Ward in Kabujogera Town Council of Kitagwenda District are in shock after a tragic incident where a councillor is a lleged to have murdered his niece for ritual sacrifice.

The suspect is Amarakutunga Levi, also known as DJ Levi Nyamagoya, the male councilor representing persons with disabilities has been arrested on allegations of killing his niece (his brother’s daughter), Aineomugisha Trinnah, a 4-year-old girl, who is the daughter of Backer Vicent.

According to the chairman of Kanyara-Nyaruhanda Cell, Patrick Rutehanda, this is the second time the community has raised concerns about DJ Levi and reports of sacrificial practices involving young children in exchange for money. Witnesses claim that a police dog was crucial in identifying the suspect by leading officers to his home after being released at the scene.

Backer Vicent, the father of the deceased girl, shared that he last saw his daughter yesterday at around 4 PM and he is devastated by the loss. Following the incident, the suspect was taken into custody at Kitagwenda Central Police Station and the body of the child has been taken to Kitagwenda Health Center IV for a post-mortem examination as investigations continue.
