The former Theatre Assistant at Arua Regional Referral Hospital has been charged with Corruption before the Anti-Corruption Court. Dr. Wamana Paul is alleged to have received a bribe from the parents of a child in exchange for performing a surgical operation.
Court heard that Dr. Wamana Paul on May 29, 2022 while being employed as a theatre assistant at Arua Regional Referral Hospital, he received a bribe from the parents of a child in an exchange for performing a surgical operation on the child.
It is said the suspect was first given Shs. 210,000 with promise of more and on that day of the operation, he failed to attend to the patient which caused delays and unfortunately the child passed on. Dr. Wamana has been remanded till March, 26th 2023.
